Kevin Durant invests in PSG

NBA superstar Kevin Durant has added a minority stake in Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), one of France’s and Europe’s most dominant soccer clubs, to his expanding portfolio of investments. Known for his on-court dominance with the Phoenix Suns, Durant is also building a reputation as a savvy investor with a keen eye for opportunities that extend beyond basketball.

The deal was made via Kevin Durant’s media and investment firm Boardroom, which invested through Arctos Sports Partners, an investment firm that purchased a 12.5% stake in PSG last year (for a valuation at $4.6 billion). While the specifics of Durant’s stake remain undisclosed, reports suggest the value is in the “single-digit millions.” This isn’t Durant’s first foray into sports ownership—he already holds stakes in MLS’s Philadelphia Union and the NWSL’s Gotham FC. However, this investment represents a significant step into the world of European soccer, where PSG’s global brand and star power have been steadily rising over the past decade.

During his time in Paris for the 2024 Olympics, where he won his fourth gold medal with Team USA, Durant visited PSG’s state-of-the-art training facility at Poissy, located just west of the French capital. He was welcomed by PSG’s president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, and met with players and staff.

“It was an honour to welcome Kevin Durant to the Campus today and to witness his passion for Paris Saint-Germain and his recognition of the excellent sports facilities at our new PSG Campus training centre […]. We are extremely proud of his connection to the Paris Saint-Germain family as we share the same values and vision. We look forward to strengthening our ties and working together with Kevin and boardroom to bring the best in sport and entertainment to fans around the world.”

This is sick […]. This is the best practice facility in the world.” mentioned Kevin Durant, while visiting the PSG Campus. According to The AthleticOne source with knowledge of Durant’s visit to PSG said the NBA star underlined the attractiveness of the club and brand, noting the club’s unique positioning on culture and community, while also expressing a commitment to the future of women’s sports.

As soccer continues to grow in the U.S. and basketball remains one of the most popular sports worldwide, Durant’s move reflects a broader trend of athletes seeking to diversify their influence across multiple sport platforms and investments.
